Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is this admission chance calculator?
This calculator provides an estimate based on known cut-off marks and typical admission patterns. Actual admission depends on the total number of qualified candidates, available quota, and university-specific policies that change each year. Use this as a guide, not a guarantee.
What is catchment area and how does it affect admission?
Nigerian universities give preference to candidates from their catchment states and educationally less developed states (ELDS). UNILAG, for example, gives priority to Lagos and South-West candidates. This can lower the effective cut-off for some candidates by 10–20 marks.
What is Direct Entry admission?
Direct Entry (DE) allows candidates with A'Level, HND, NCE, or equivalent to gain admission directly into 200 Level, bypassing JAMB UTME. Requirements differ from UTME admission.
How long does it take to know if I'm admitted?
After the JAMB/Post-UTME process, universities typically release admission lists in batches starting from August/September. JAMB's Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) is used — check your JAMB profile regularly. Some universities have 3–4 supplementary admission rounds.
What should I do if I'm not admitted?
Options include: reapplying through JAMB the next year with improved scores, applying for Direct Entry if you have A'Levels, considering a private or state university with lower cut-offs, starting at a polytechnic and transferring, or applying to international universities.
